In short: we keep what you type into the diagnosis form, the message form, the service request form and the part request form, and we use Google Ads cookies to see whether our ads are working. Repair guides are published on this site. Messages, service requests and part requests are not, and the phone number and address on a service or part request are stored encrypted.

What you type into the diagnosis form

When you pick an appliance and describe a symptom, we send that text to our AI provider to write the repair guide, and we save the guide so it can be opened again without running the diagnosis a second time.

If you add a photo, we send it to the same AI provider once to read the model sticker, the display or the part shown, and then drop it. The photo is not stored. What the AI read from it fills in the form, and one short sentence about what it shows (“In your photo”) becomes part of the details saved with the guide.

If you tap the microphone button and speak, your browser’s own speech service turns your words into text (in Chrome that is Google, in Safari it is Apple, under their privacy terms). We never receive or keep the recording, only the text that appears in the box, which you can read and correct before you start the diagnosis. It is then treated exactly like typed text.

Saved repair guides are public. Each one gets a link like /repair/ab3k9xz2q that anyone with the link can open, and recent guides are listed on the home page.

Because of that, please do not put your name, address, phone number or anything else personal in the symptom or detail boxes. We do not store your name or your IP address alongside a guide — only the appliance, what you typed, the fault record answers you tapped, and the guide itself.

Chat with FIX AI

When you chat with FIX AI, each message you send, together with the earlier messages of that chat, goes to our AI provider to write the next reply. We do not save the chat: it lives only on your screen and is gone when you leave the page or press Start over. If you book a technician from the chat, the words you typed are copied into the service request form, where you can change them before you send it.

The fault log

Entries you add to the fault log are kept only in your own browser, on your own device. We do not receive them, and clearing your browser data deletes them. They reach us only if you press “Send the log to the shop”, which sends them as part of a service request (see below), or “Diagnose from this log”, which puts them in the diagnosis form.

Service requests

If you ask us to come out and fix something, the form collects your name, phone number, service address, what the appliance is doing, when you would like us to visit, and a photo if you choose to attach one. We need all of it to turn up at the right house with the right part.

Your phone number and address are encrypted before they are stored. They are never published on this site, never listed with repair guides, and cannot be read out of our database without a key that is kept separately.

We email ourselves a copy of the request, including your contact details and any photo, so the shop can call you back and schedule the visit. We use this information only to arrange and carry out your repair.

The text-message box is optional and off unless you tick it. If you tick it, we may text you the arrival window for your visit. We will call you either way, and you can tell us to stop texting at any time.

We also store a one-way hash of your IP address with a request, purely to limit spam. It cannot be turned back into your IP address and is never displayed.

Part requests

If you ask us to source a part, the form collects your name, phone number, the appliance, its brand and model number, the part you need or what the appliance is doing, how you would like the part handed over, and a photo of the model sticker if you attach one. The model number is the one thing we cannot look a part up without.

We ask for an address only if you want the part delivered or fitted. If you choose to pick it up at the shop, no address is collected and none is stored.

Your phone number and address are encrypted before they are stored, the same way a service request is. They are never published on this site and cannot be read out of our database without a key that is kept separately.

We email ourselves a copy of the request, including your contact details and any photo, so we can quote you. We take no payment through this site and store no card details: we quote the price first, and nothing is ordered until you approve it.

The text-message box is optional and off unless you tick it. If you tick it, we may text you the price of the part. We will call you either way, and you can tell us to stop texting at any time.

As with a service request, we store a one-way hash of your IP address purely to limit spam. It cannot be turned back into your IP address and is never displayed.

Reviews

If you write a review, the form collects your rating, your first name, your town if you give it, what the review is about, and what you wrote. Nothing is shown until we have read it. Once we post it, your first name, town, rating, review and the month it was posted are public on this site.

The phone number or repair reference box is optional. We use it only to match the review to a real job so it can be marked a verified repair. It is encrypted before it is stored, the same way a service request is, and it is never published.

We post good and bad reviews alike. We remove a review only if it is spam, abusive, or shares someone’s private details. As with the other forms, we store a one-way hash of your IP address purely to limit spam.

Messages you send us

The message form asks for your name and a phone number or email so we can get back to you. We store your message and email a copy to ourselves. We also send it to our AI provider to translate, so we can read it whether you wrote in English, Korean, Spanish or anything else.

Messages are never published on this site and never appear in the list of recent repair guides. We use them to answer you and to arrange service.

We also store a one-way hash of your IP address with a message, purely to limit spam. It cannot be turned back into your IP address and is never displayed.

Cookies and advertising

This site uses Google Ads cookies to measure ad performance — they let us see whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to contact us.

You can switch off ad personalization at Google Ad Settings, or block cookies in your browser. The diagnosis tool works either way — it does not need cookies to run.

Who else sees your information

  • Anthropic — processes the symptom text and customer messages to write repair guides and translations.
  • Netlify — hosts this site, its database, and the email notifications for the message, service request and part request forms, including any photo you attach.
  • Google — advertising measurement, as described above.

We do not sell your information.

Removing something

Repair guides, messages, service requests and part requests stay until we delete them. If you want a guide taken down, or a message, service request or part request deleted, call us at (478) 449-1002 and tell us which one — for a guide, the link is enough.
